Conduit of Creativity

For over 28 years, Spirits In Stone Galleries has mounted major museum exhibits throughout America, Japan and the U.K. to promote the arts from ancient cultures and pageant the creative human spirit that exists in all people. For the past 16 years, Spirits In Stone has operated retail galleries located in Marin, the Wine Country, Tahoe and Santa Barbara. Primarily focusing on Africa, we have now expanded to embrace Asia, Australia and the Americas-all cultures that have defined and expressed their spirituality in earth's basic elements.

Stone sculpture by Africa's Shona artists remains at our core and is our strongest element. After all, earthstone and Mother Africa brings us closer to the substance of creation. Our collections spring from earth, embracing artisan gemstone jewelry, handwoven grass baskets, ancestral wooden masks and many more organic expressions inspired from natural elements-all handmade and truly one of a kind artworks.

Maintaining a two decade tradition of paying cash up front and foremost to these artisans, we believe that artists should not finance our project. Rather, their energy and talents should be best spent to create their artistry and keep their culture alive. Acting as an educational and artistic conduit through international commerce, we tell the stories of those ancient cultures and their creative artistry.

The end result is the preservation of those arts for future generations to behold. So many of our great cultural arts have already disappeared and many more are in danger of permanent loss. Our enthusiasm and energy has rekindled many of these nearly lost arts and we are wholly dedicated to that purpose.
