Bushtracks Safari Expeditions
Go Explore the richness of African Culture!
With our roots at Spirits In Stone so deeply tied to the beauty and the promise of Africa, our customers often ask us to conduct or recommend a new kind of "safari" that can include the great cultural and artistic treasures of that cherished continent. Finally, we have found just such a source with Carolyn and David Tett of "Bushtracks". Visit our website for more information.
Carolyn and David's sensitivity and passion for Africa mirrors our own, and now they have arranged to offer Spirits In Stone clients a variety of travel options that promise to redefine the term "Safari" forevermore! As tour guides for Stanford University Alumni and the Smithsonian, we can promise you a wonderful expedition. Here's a sampling of the experiences that could fill your upcoming travel itinerary:
Kingdoms and Tribes of South Africa and Swaziland by Private Air
9 Days by Private Air, with Optional Blue Train and Cape Town Extension
Activities: Game-viewing with naturalist guides in open four-wheel-drive vehicles, night drives, foot safaris, cultural and museum visits. Excellent shopping opportunities for traditional crafts.
Overview: During the early migrations of peoples from West Africa, Bantu villagers settled on the coastal strip of today's South Africa. These villages gathered themselves into clans, and the clans formed tribes, and from these tribes was forged the great Zulu Nation and the people of heaven, their hunting relatives the Shangaan, and the royal Kingdom of Swaziland - the longest ruling monarchy in the world. On this private air safari, Shangaan trackers will lead you on game viewing excursions in the Kruger lowveld, where you can track elephant and rhino on foot, and photograph all the big cats - lion, leopard, and cheetah.
From Kruger fly into the mountain kingdom of Swaziland, rich in royal heritage and traditional songs, Swazi custom and crafts, and wildlife conservation. From Swaziland fly into Zululand, a proud nation of legendary warriors where royal hunting grounds are now wildlife reserves and home to the "Big Five." Here you can witness powerful Zulu war dances, enjoy game drives, night drives, walks on a private game reserve, and discover the rich coastline of Kwazulu-Natal. Three-day optional extension to Cape Town, with options of taking a flight, the Blue Train, or Rovos Rail from Johannesburg to Cape Town.
Cost: From $5,920 per person (based on 6 guests)

Day 1: Johannesburg;
Day 2-3: Private reserve, Greater Kruger National Park;
