Passmore Mashaya
Rising Star

Passmore Mashaya Passmore Mashaya was born in 1971 in Nyanga. He was educated at Mazarura Primary School and at St. Monica Secondary School. As a child, he spent most of his free time sculpting clay into human, bird and animal figures.

His mother greatly influenced his love for art through the stories of her uncle, the late sculptor Moses Masaya. He was also inspired and trained by many talented sculptors, including Agnes Nyanhongo and Joseph Munemo.

Passmore has been sculpting professionally since 1990 and he thrives on a strong desire to mould and sustain a heritage for future generations through his art. At his workshop, Passmore is now training four young aspiring artists, one of them being his wife.

My Secret
He has exhibited six times in Zimbabwe and his art has been exposed abroad by art collectors. He has also participated in the 1995/96 Chapungu Artists Residency Programme, which is a program for the best only.

We've just added 8 exciting new works by Passmore Mashaya to our website!
