The most majestic of all pearls, the South Seas, are silvery white, champagne or golden in color and can grow up to 20mm. These manifest inside of giant oysters called Pintada Maxima, some oysters grow to be the size of dinner plates. The South Sea oysters range across the southern Pacific, from the Philippines to Indonesia and northern Australia. South Sea pearls are the largest, finest and rarest of all pearls and it takes three to five years inside of the oyster until harvested. Only one pearl a time is created, although an oyster may create 3 or 4 over its lifetime.
