"VISUAL POETRY"
An Evening With Wosene at The Claremont Resort & Spa - Spirits In Stone Gallery

Garden of the Medicine Women I I I
Internationally acclaimed painter Wosene Kosrof will make a guest appearance on June 26 at the Spirits In Stone Gallery, Berkeley located just inside the entrance to the Claremont Resort & Spa. The Ethiopian-born Wosene will be curating his paintings on-site while encouraging visitor participation in a uniquely interactive evening. Also on display will be numerous original works, some from his most recent creative period entitled "VISUAL POETRY." Described as such since his paintings transport the viewer into a dialogue between ancient forms and modern symbols, but with a language of color as prose.

African Market III
Wosene's remarkable blending of color with the graceful lines and sensuous forms of Amharic calligraphy have earned his paintings permanent exhibit status at museum venues including the Smithsonian Institution. His works are now curated and part of their permanent collection. Among his numerous honors is a commission from the United Nations to create a painting that was made into a stamp for the theme "Africa In Crisis."

Wosene has a long association with Spirits In Stone Galleries for 12 years, which carries the world's most extensive selection of his works. Spirits In Stone is also noted for its unparalleled collection of African Shona sculpture, baskets, masks, and fine pearl jewelry.

Wosene, who professionally uses only his first name, is a Berkeley resident who maintains a studio in Oakland. This hometown appearance requires no admission fee or reservations - just stroll in and treat yourself to a profound and illuminating evening with a world-class artist.
