Felix Tirivanhu

Nestled high on the Guruve Plateau, the village of artist Felix Tirivanhu prospers under his guidance. As a young boy, he began sculpting at age 15, completely self-taught. His first works were already large and predominantly self portraits of his inner soul transforming from his boyhood into the strong spirit of the lion.

Having learned to shoulder responsibility as a youth before exercising power, Felix was the willing care giver for his entire family and extended village family during years of drought through his artistry. As his wealth prospered, it was his privilege as the wealthiest member of the family to provide and offer support to his village. He organized farming cooperatives, assisted in a well building project, built a small general store (called tuck shops), employed local villagers and family members. He became on of the most successful small farmers on the Guruve Plateau. His destiny was to become the Munhu Chaiye, the good man.

All this began with teaching himself to carve stone and have the courage of the cut to express his inner soul as a young boy. We celebrate his great inner selfless spirit and encourage collectors to explore his artistry.
