Tony faxed back to Kingston and ascertained that his young 6 year old son was diagnosed in Zimbabwe with a hole in his heart that needs fixing fast. Without proper surgical intervention, his son's future will be short.
Our wonderful collector and epidemiologist, Joelle Brown, who just received the D.A.I.S.Y. award for medical excellence at Shona Gardens Open House, May 22, is presently on the ground working in Zimbabwe to teach nurses how to combat HIV. She is attempting to intercede and get in conversation with the boy's physician to discover the depth of the problem and to collect the boy's medical file so we can proceed further.
It is our hope to have him flown to the United States, South Africa, U.K. or Germany for any necessary medical procedure that could save his life. We have already dedicated part of the proceeds of our upcoming Pasadena exhibit to assist young Brighton.
Any resourceful assistance from our collector family will be greatly appreciated. Financial, medical, willingness to help coordinate the efforts on the ground... we welcome all assistance.
